Prices for salmon, including those used for sushi and wraps, will not rise in the near future. This estimate has been given TASS In the Fish Union.
“There is no reason for prices to go up right now. The situation in the salmon segment this year is better than last year, the Fish Association’s press service told TASS.
The Union states that imports of salmon and trout have rebounded after the decline in 2022. In the seven months of 2023, the import of this kind of fish increased by 12% compared to the same period of the previous year and reached 48 thousand tons.
In addition, domestic production of valuable fish species is increasing. According to the Fish Association, the price of Murmansk salmon decreased by 14% compared to last year and currently stands at 1.2 thousand rubles per 1 kg.
Another factor that will keep prices stable, according to the Fishermen’s Association, is a successful fishing season in the Far East. This season, catches for pink salmon and other salmon have exceeded last year’s figures by 3 times.
The Association also points out that the record salmon catch in the Far East has already led to a decline in wholesale prices in the regions.
