Kyrgyz authorities declared a state of emergency in the energy sector for the next three years due to the sharp increase in energy shortages. In this respect writer “Kommersant”.
As of August 1, Kyrgyzstan declares a state of emergency in the energy sector due to the growing shortage of electricity within the country. The special regime will last until 31 December 2026. The main reason for the growing energy shortage is the low level of water inflow in the Naryn river basin, which reduces electricity production at local hydroelectric power stations. At the same time, consumption in the republic is growing rapidly.
According to the publication, the country’s authorities are not yet talking about the possible shutdown of consumers for energy savings. However, the newspaper’s sources stated that such a scenario is highly likely, as regulators of the energy system every year in winter ask the public to reduce consumption in the morning and evening. Market experts add that the production of hydroelectric power plants is highly dependent on weather conditions, since the highest energy consumption in winter occurs during the fall of the river level.
Analysts think that the construction of new hydroelectric power plants requested by the Kyrgyz authorities will require huge time and financial costs. However, it would be more logical to build a nuclear power plant that will close the seasonal difference in energy production.
April 17 TASS knowledgeablethat for the first time in history, the company “Inter RAO” (electricity import and export operator in Russia) started to supply electricity to Kyrgyzstan.
Previously reportedThat the European Union itself exacerbated the energy crisis, plunged into darkness and poverty.
