Construction of two research vessels (NIS) for the All-Russian Fisheries and Oceanographic Research Institute (VNIRO) has been delayed for at least four years due to sanctions. In this respect to write “Vedomosti” refers to the materials prepared by the Federal Fisheries Agency for the meeting of the government commission for the development of the fisheries complex.
The institute was supposed to receive the ships at the end of 2022, two years after the order. The cost of construction was 5.9 billion rubles, for this the client was allocated a subsidy in the amount of the entire budget. However, anti-Russian sanctions stopped the production process. In addition, the cost of the work amounted to 13.7 billion rubles, and it has not yet been possible to find a new amount.
The publication added that due to the restrictions, the court had to be redesigned because there was no longer access to certain components and technologies that should be provided by Western companies. For this reason, the delivery time of the ships was postponed to approximately 2026. At the same time, the source of the publication stated that this period can only be met with the support of Turkish partners.
Analysts thought that the possibility of a complete abandonment of the project could not be ruled out. For example, in May, the Ministry of Agriculture abandoned the idea of building three ships for 70 billion rubles. In addition, the current amount may not be final and will still increase due to the weakening of the ruble and additional needs during the redesign.
In mid-June, Russian President Vladimir Putin declarationthat in the next five years the Russian merchant fleet will be significantly updated.
Advance Cabinet decided to allocate 1 billion rubles for the creation of equipment for civil courts.
