The Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka reduced its tea exports by 22% in March compared to the same month of 2022. In this respect Wrote The Daily Mirror newspaper cites the press service of the Sri Lankan Tea Brokers Association.
Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte reduced its total delivery volume to 17.97 million kg. In the first quarter of 2023 (January-March), the country reduced its tea exports by 15% compared to the first three months of 2022, to 54.08 million kg.
In the January-March period, Turkey became the main importer of Sri Lankan tea, increasing its purchases by 102% year on year. In second place is Iraq. Russia is in the top three in product imports.
Sri Lanka is the third largest tea producer in the world after China and India. The country is one of the largest tea exporters with a 23% share of world exports.
Olga Alexandrova, therapist of the Atlas clinic in the second half of February warnedthat green or black tea is only healthy if consumed without sugar, sweeteners, milk or cream.
