Sparkling wine producer Santo Stefano – Eurasian Alcohol Group – sues wine blogger Elena Kulikova informs Base telegraph channel. The essence of the company’s claims is that the blogger criticizes the drink on Instagram (its owner, Meta, is recognized as an extremist in Russia and is banned)*.
As follows from the post, EAG asks Kulikova to remove the post, make a rebuttal and pay a state duty of 6,000 rubles.
The post, which received a negative reaction from EAG, was published two years ago. Kulikova made several allegations and accused the producers of lying to her 100,000th viewer.
The first is that when bottled in the Moscow region, the drink is called Santo Stefano, referring to Italy. Second, “white sparkling wine” has no grapes, only wine material, sugar, food additives and flavorings. Third, Santo Stefano contains 85 grams of sugar per liter, which is too much and can cause poisoning.
EAG representatives do not agree with the defendant’s view. The company does not hide the fact that, according to their location, alcohol is bottled in the Moscow region. And there should be no white grapes in a bottle: after all, Santo Stefano is a carbonated white semi-sweet drink and has nothing to do with sparkling wine.
