Newspaper “Kommersant” to solveAt the end of last year, electric vehicle manufacturer Evolute Motorinvest offered to introduce a ceiling price for charging electric vehicles. According to the company, the limit on the cost of charging should be 8 rubles per 1 kilowatt hour. Motorinvest announced the relevant proposal at a meeting at the Ministry of Economic Development.
According to the newspaper, even the cost of electricity in various regions of Russia now is mostly above 8 rubles. At the same time, the cost of charging at public electric charging stations (EPS) exceeds this figure by more than three times and reaches 15-25 rubles per 1 kilowatt hour.
Participants in the electric vehicle market, especially Citydrive, supported the initiative, but called the ceiling price of 8 rubles per 1 kilowatt hour “very optimistic”.
“The speed and availability of the EZS is more important to service a large fleet of electric vehicles. If charging is cheap but also long, we won’t be able to bring electric vehicles to the line quickly,” Citydrive told the newspaper.
Market participants also indicated that they would need subsidies to introduce a price cap of 8 rubles per 1 kilowatt hour.
Motortrust did not respond to the newspaper’s request. The Ministry of Economic Development reported that the proposal is being worked on.
