Bankrupt crypto exchange FTX owes creditors more than $3 billion

Bankrupt crypto exchange FTX has to pay over $3 billion to its 50 largest creditors, 10 of whom will receive half the amount. About informs Reuters cites court materials.

The publication states, “Failed cryptocurrency exchange FTX owes $3.1 billion to 50 of its largest creditors, 10 of which the exchange owes approximately $1.45 billion. The creditors are not named in the statement submitted to the court.”

According to the agency, the exchange may have more than a million creditors who need to receive its funds. In particular, such cases concern “unsecured creditors”, who are often merchants.

12 November Reuters, citing the source knowledgeableSam Bankman-Fried, the founder of the FTX cryptocurrency exchange, secretly transferred $10 billion of client funds to trading firm Bankman-Fried Alameda Research, of which $2 billion was lost. At the same time, the FTX cryptocurrency exchange announced its bankruptcy the previous day.

Later, it was learned that Sam Bankman-Fried, co-founder and former CEO of cryptocurrency exchange FTX, lost his entire fortune of $ 16 billion, one of the biggest wealth losses in history.
