After a long period of almost complete shortage of some components, AVTOVAZ resumed sending “problem” cars to dealers. In particular, the situation with the supply of seat belts for the Niva family started to improve: according to Avtograd News, the factory managed to find a new supplier in the form of Sibeco, a subsidiary of the Chinese company Sibtec.
Deliveries of wiring harnesses and some other components have also resumed, and cars have begun to complete the missing parts and send them to dealers, the source writes. Factory workers are put to work overtime with an appropriate wage to complete the cars that have accumulated in the factory’s territory.
That is, the factory’s plans are to complete all the machines and put them up for sale. In addition, as Za Rulem wrote earlier, for the first time after production recovery, they began installing air conditioning and heated seats on the Niva. However, spare parts issues remain and cars continue to fill factory driveways, the same source noted on Oct. 12.
It is indicated that in 2008-2009 about 80,000 thousand cars gathered on the territory of AVTOVAZ – then they were complete, but a crisis of overproduction arose. Now the demand for Lada is good and the number of incomplete cars, according to some estimates, is already in the thousands.
- At the end of September, the head of AVTOVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, acknowledged the problem with the purchase of cars.
