The famous trinity of British motoring journalists who rose to fame on Top Gear and are now filming the fifth season of The Grand Tour is in trouble again. For the filming of one of the new episodes of the project, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May took part in an overly dangerous stunt – and everything didn’t quite go according to plan.
Usually we all worry about Richard Hammond crashing, but not this time. Events took an unpleasant turn – James May crashed into the wall on his beloved Mitsubishi EVO,” says the annotation accompanying the video on the project’s YouTube channel.
According to the scenario of the plot, each of the presenters had to run as fast as possible through the underground tunnel, in which the light turns on automatically when the sensors in each new section react to movement. After the lights went on on the last stretch, ending in a monolithic stone wall, it was necessary to react – and slow down.
Clarkson was the first to go on a mission – successfully racing through the tunnel in an Audi RS4. But May, nicknamed “Captain Snail” (Captain Slow), started to slow down too late – and crashed into the wall.
To the credit of the journalist, we note that he managed to make the car skid and the blow fell on the side of the body. May left the set in an ambulance… Which didn’t stop his friend Hammond from finishing shooting with a Subaru WRX STI, albeit in a rather quirky way…
- And blogger TechRax specifically crashed his car to test a new iPhone feature.
- “Behind the wheel” can be read in Odnoklassniki.
