As part of the “Car-Free Days” campaign, it is proposed to require heads of federal, regional and municipal authorities, as well as deputies of all levels, to use public transport to get to their workplaces two working days a week. The explanatory note to the project states that the dates and procedure for holding “Car-Free Days” are determined by the Government of the Russian Federation for federal officials.
This is expected to allow authorities to better understand public transport issues, as well as increase citizens’ trust in government officials.
Before that, the State Duma deputy Sultan Khamzaev spoke with the proposal to cancel fines for excessive speeding in border areas and to suspend the holding of drivers to administrative responsibility.
