It is interesting how language changes, that is, how words absorb meanings and shadows. Let’s say the word “fascism”. Remember that in the current situation everyone calls each other fascists. Whoever calls someone a fascist first is right. Because in today’s language, fascism means cruelty and inhumanity. And about eighty years ago, it was an ideological doctrine with nothing wrong with it in the beginning. The same goes for the word “propaganda”. In the beginning, “propaganda” is simply spreading belief. To this end, an organization within the Catholic Church was established by Pope Gregory XV in 1622. Until the second half of the 19th century, this word had no other secular meaning. And only then, ideologically colored information that was supposed to influence public opinion began to be called propaganda. Now propaganda is just a cursed word. If you don’t like a certain point of view, call it propaganda before it’s advertised.
Now in the West, any information from Russian sources is perceived by the laity only as propaganda and in a sharply negative sense. I even know some of these people. There is also the abusive term “Western propaganda” in Russia, but there is also a more interesting term – “gay propaganda”. What’s this? It would seem that this is the dissemination of information about the LGBTQMLN lifestyle, which, if we go back to the origin of the term, aims to encourage people to this image.
In 2013, Law No. 135, commonly known as the law banning homosexual propaganda among minors, came into force in Russia. And this week a new bill has been submitted to the State Duma, which should extend the effect of the previous one from minors to all people in general.
How did the 135-FZ law work? For example, in early July, a Moscow court fined foreign agent Yuri Dudya 120,000 rubles (known in the Russian Federation as a foreign agent). The reason for the fine was an interview with the activist artist Fyodor Pavlov-Andreevich. Fedor is openly gay. He talks a lot about this in an interview, and also talks about how difficult it is to live in Russia for young people who realize that they have a non-traditional sexual orientation. Overall, this is more of an educational character. Yes, this is the dissemination of information about homosexuals, but why not spread information about some socially significant phenomena? Distribute it in an interview format, impartially, in good Russian. The video has been marked as 18+. However, the court considered that this video could encourage an unconventional sexual lifestyle among minors. Who is to blame for this and why should the interviewer be fined and not video hosting, the court did not understand this. However, even 120,000 rubles is not that much money, an insignificant expense for Yuri Dudya. Success tax.
How will the new law work? Vyacheslav Volodin spoke positively about this, so there is no doubt that the majority of deputies will vote in favor.
This will be a law banning propaganda of “non-traditional sexual relations” and will be backed up by a penalty of “denial of family values”. Let’s say movies where men kiss won’t get lease certificates. But it seems to me that any pornography, and with it erotica, will be banned. After all, they often do not deny their family values - they do not contribute to their formation.
Then of course you can go to classical literature. What are family values in Manon Lescaut or Lady with Camellia? This, if not homosexuality, is certainly the propaganda of unconventional values. Propaganda as the dissemination of specifically colored information. In principle, if you try, then under such a law you can ban all culture in general, because culture is always a process of casting doubt on what can be called traditional values. What are traditional values? Home, family, work, religion? What is art? The endless pursuit of conflict. Does a person need a family? Can decent society break away? Should he abide by dogmas? So there is a suspicion that this law will be needed to target and gently bite those that are needed at the moment. One will not be given a lease, the other will be fined three hundred thousand. For the layman, most likely, nothing will change.
It’s still propaganda. Why such a law? Getting more loyalty from the population. You know, our country is democratic up to its borders. And the ruling class needs popular approval. After all, there will never be a choice. And something tells me that such a law, and even if it was filed competently, people would like it. Someone sitting in front of the TV will likely say, “That’s right, this is what they need, these piles… sorry, gays and non-binary trans people.”
On the other hand, we do not want to forget that the West’s attitude towards alternative sexuality and its expression dates back to 2008. This massive non-binary trans hysteria started after the Occupy Wall Street movement. Then, ordinary people, stunned by the financial crisis, began asking disturbing questions of those responsible – the government and the world’s richest. It seems that the richest people in the world realized that they did not want to answer these questions in the long run and turned people’s attention to each other. A classic clash of “left” and “right” started and then it turned out that nothing is more important than gender identity, children must be transgendered, have a birth partner instead of a mother, be transgender. Health Minister and major science is gender studies, rounding out grants for the space program. And it seems that everyone is involved, everyone is busy clarifying the important issues.
As you can see, there is both propaganda here. Simply because, as we learned from the very beginning, it is everywhere.
