“After the departure of Western brands, there was a shortage of cars on the market, and it had to be covered somehow. By the way, we should thank the Chinese for this. Today, there is no shortage of cars on the market. I believe that the government will find a solution. Import of assembled cars can be regulated by protective measures,” Chemezov said.
Before that, in seven months of 2024 imported 4.4 thousand cars, which is six times more than in the same period in 2023.
“4,443 cars imported from China for personal use by individuals were cleared by Ussuri customs officers during the seven months of 2024. This is six times more than during the same period in 2023. Moreover, almost half of the cars imported in 2024 (2,137) were cleared in the last two months.”
The most popular models for import were Changan, Chery and Geely. These are both new and used cars.
