Russian racer Sergei Karyakin announced that the hydrogen fuel car he was involved in the development of has started mass production in Germany. In this respect he is writing TASS.
“We were fulfilling an order from a German company. The power plant project that I took part in the development of was used in the construction of cars in Germany. This machine can be used in tourism, sports and even in the mining industry. It is already in production and being used,” Karjakin stated.
The racing driver emphasized that he was “particularly proud” of being asked for engineering assistance from Russia. “They requested intellectual property, which we were able to provide at a high level,” he explained.
According to Karyakin, the production of such cars in Russia is not yet possible due to sanctions. “The story about the hydrogen engine is paused because there is no longer a necessary localization in Russia. “I hope that the project will be implemented with the easing of sanctions,” he added.
Karyakin announced that it plans to produce a hydrogen car to participate in the Dakar rally marathon in 2022. According to the requirements of the race organizers, in 2026 all priority athletes, including the Russian crew, must use alternative fuel.
