It turned out that the hybrid system control processor in many Jeep vehicles was programmed incorrectly. This may cause the windshield heating to be switched off, resulting in reduced visibility.
The recall affects the 2022-2024 Grand Cherokee 4xe model. The defect was also found in the 2021-2024 Wrangler 4xe. It is stated that experts will need to update the software for these models. Dealers and owners will be notified of the recall on April 5. At the same time, drivers will be able to check whether their vehicles are within the scope of the campaign. To do this, you will need to enter the 17-digit vehicle identification number on the manufacturer’s website or NHTSA.
The Grand Cherokee 4xe and Wrangler 4xe have a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The first model can travel up to 42 km on electric power alone, while the second model has a range of 35 km.
