The most effective way to start a vehicle in severe frost conditions is to use a booster. In this respect “Rossiyskaya Gazeta” said Yuri Parkhomenko, general director of the UslugiAvto testing laboratory.
The expert explained that boosters are starting devices that resemble ordinary chargers for mobile phones. They also have more power.
For ordinary passenger cars with gasoline engines, a starting current of 500 to 800 amperes is sufficient. Parkhomenko noted that the higher the current, the higher the chance of starting.
The expert also warned that even 1000-amp boosters may not work if you need to start a diesel engine. A warm garage will help here.
But there is another option. You can warm up the car with a 40 kW heat gun, then the engine will start. This method was invented in Siberia, where there are 50-degree frosts.
However, the best way to start a diesel engine vehicle is to fill the tank with kerosene. This should be done on the eve of cold weather, as this method will not help later.
