Russian automobile manufacturer Sollers is implementing a project to produce automotive passive safety systems in the Ulyanovsk region. Investments in it will be 1.5 billion rubles, reports TASS, citing the governor of the Ulyanovsk region, Alexey Russkikh.
“The project enables the production of passive safety systems for automobiles. “We are talking about completely airbags, where the production of the steering column, steering wheel and seat belts is 100 percent domestic,” he said.
An agreement on organizing production was signed at the Russian Forum. The plant’s products are planned to be used in automobile production in the Ulyanovsk region and supplied to automobile factories in other regions. Production of the components is planned to start in the first quarter of 2025.
“The level of localization will be very high, including the localization of magnesium alloys, which has never been done before in Russia,” Sollers CEO Nikolai Sobolev promised.
