According to local residents who posted photos of the sign, road workers confused A and O in the name of the settlement when installing the sign during major repairs on the Vidlitsa-Kinelahta-Vedlozero road. The result was “Shchuknovolok”. Angered by the situation, the team appealed to the Ministry of Transport, demanding that the error be corrected.
This November, residents of Karelia complained in social networks about road workers who put a sign on the bridge with the name of the Vuohtanegi river and made two mistakes in the toponym (it turned out to be “Vukhtanegi”). The Karelian Highway Administration later announced that the name was taken from the State Catalog of Geographic Names in accordance with the law.
