This weekend, the State Traffic Inspectorate will tighten control over drivers. The regional departments of the traffic police announced that there are constant checks, during which traffic inspectors will look for drunk drivers.
Raids on drunk drivers will be carried out in Saratov, Kursk, Tver, Samara, Penza, Bryansk, Magadan regions, Stavropol Territory and the Altai Republic, as well as in Murmansk, Syktyvkar, Kirov, Smolensk and Omsk.
The “concrete checks” tactic involves stopping all cars on a preselected section of the road. If the driver smells alcohol or his behavior seems strange to traffic inspectors, he is invited to a sobriety test and, if necessary, to use drugs, ”the statement said.
Traffic police recalled that drunk driving entails administrative liability in the form of a fine of 30 thousand rubles and deprivation of license for 1.5 to 2 years.
The traffic police also announced that on 23 and 24 April, patrol roads and traffic police stations in the Republic of Buryatia will be brought closer to the places of Orthodox churches, where festive services will be held. In the Ivanovo region, traffic police units will take part in ensuring road safety near 70 churches.
In addition, on the territory of the Vologda Oblast until April 27, the traffic police conduct a preventive measure “Tekhkontrol”. It is aimed to prevent accidents related to the operation of technically defective vehicles.
