Japan bans car deliveries to Russia in excess of $49,000

Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry stated that the ban on the export of luxury goods from Japan to Russia will affect new and used cars worth 6 million yen ($49.2 thousand at the current exchange rate). This has been reported TASS.

Motorcycles costing more than 600,000 yen ($4.9k), pianos more than 200,000 yen ($1.6k), diving and ski equipment, hats (excluding protective helmets) more than 100,000 yen ($822) ) more expensive.

Japan also banned exports of laptops, alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, jewelry, perfumes and cosmetics to Russia worth more than 40,000 yen ($326).

Previously Japan’s from April 5 to introduce ban on the export of luxury goods to Russia, including luxury cars and jewellery.

Japan’s final package of sanctions against Russia was introduced on Friday, March 25. Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi announced that restrictive measures were introduced against 25 Russian and 81 organizations.

Japanese officials added that they will closely monitor the “side effects” of the sanctions imposed by Japan against Russia on the country’s economy and financial markets, and will take coordinated steps with the G7 countries and the international community.
