Perhaps the most interesting detail: in addition to escort motorcycles, a more budget model for the consumer market is also planned. The chief designer of the Aurus Merlon is Sergey Molodenov, who previously worked for Ducati and has already applied Italian experience and connections to the Russian project.
For Merlon, a frame, suspensions, power plant, transmission, battery, inverter and temperature control system were developed from scratch within the walls of NAMI. Parts purchased – brakes, bearings, drive belt, fasteners and some other components.
Characteristics are known: electric motor power 140 kW (190 hp), torque 350 Nm, battery capacity 21 kWh, power reserve up to 220 km, empty weight 350 kg, rear-wheel drive. The engine accelerates to hundreds in 4 seconds and has a top speed of 200 km/h.
The pre-production version was released in 2022 and a series of prototypes has now been assembled. Production is planned to be located in the facilities of a design institute in Moscow. The deadline for launching electric motorcycles into production is 2024.
