Usually Skat-S mobile complexes go “hunting” during the day. The devices are housed in a large box that protects the equipment from snow and wind.
And if during the day the radius of their action is clear – up to 150 m, then at night they cannot always “see” and “photograph” the violator of the speed limit.
In cloudy weather, the camera recognizes vehicles at a distance of up to 100 m. From the images received, the computer determines the type of vehicle and guides it on the road, after which the program transfers the radar readings to the captured object on the road. the video. This reduces the chance that the speed of the offending vehicle will be attributed to other road users.
In the dark, however, this camera cannot make accurate references and the complex is severely limited in its capabilities. The machine can only be identified by infrared lighting in the immediate vicinity of the camera. And the range of such lighting is limited to a maximum of 50 meters.
In bad weather, fog and snowfall, the efficiency of the backlight is further reduced and the camera stops working. From time to time the backlight goes out, as the transmitter may overheat and the recording of numbers stops.
