According to the All-Russian Union of Insurers, about 10% of motorists in Russia do not insure their civil liability. Lawmakers decided to put things in order: they want to raise the fine for missing OSAGO starting next year, and they want to put on cameras to identify uninsured drivers.
According to Evgeny Ufimtsev, chairman of the All-Russian Union of Insurers, from the first months of 2023 it is planned to launch a full system for checking the availability of OSAGO policies using cameras.
“We are taking certain measures together with the traffic police. Now, towards the end of the year, they have completed the modernization and refinement of their information system – the FIS STSI. We worked with them to develop a new block diagram for implementing the ability to use cameras to monitor the presence of an OSAGO policy. Our information system has become more stable, which has reduced the number of errors.” – said the head of the union of insurers.
