The special thing about exporting used cars from China is that permission from the government of the country is required. Today, 10 subjects have it, including Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai and Guangdong province.
Now the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Public Security and the General Administration of Customs of China are planning to allow the export of used cars to Russia to another 14 provinces.
In response, the provinces that have been granted the right to resell used vehicles to Russia must develop standards for admission to the used car market, regulate procedures for selecting equipment for export, and provide support to companies involved in export, writes RIA Novosti. It is also necessary to set up sales channels in Russia, which should also provide after-sales service for the cars sold.
Since May 2019, used cars are exported from China to Russia. As mentioned earlier, supplies come from only 10 subjects, while China has 34 provinces.
The country’s car fleet is huge – more than 400 million cars, and it is replenished annually with tens of millions of new cars: in the first three quarters of 2022, 26.21 million new cars were sold in China. And these are not only cars of Chinese brands, but also of Japanese, European, Korean, American …
An increase in supply can have a beneficial effect on the cost of used cars – they become more affordable.
