The Scientific Center for Road Safety of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia has prepared guidelines for resolving conflict situations that traffic police officers may face.
The tips are divided into several blocks, one of which is dedicated to “preventing and resolving conflicts in situations of provocative behavior by road users”.
Particularly when dealing with aggressive people, traffic cops must create a “calm business atmosphere” and give them a chance to “speak out”.
During a dialogue with motorists, inspectors are advised to be polite, even-handed and tidy.
“A police officer must have a well-groomed appearance, have a high level of speech culture, be confident and have a friendly facial expression. When communicating with aggressive motorists, the inspector must control his emotions and not succumb to provocations, ” – emphasized in the document.
