Glass does not crack: how to protect the “windshield” in cold weather

If the windshield has several chips and cracks, the hour when it needs to be replaced is not far off. And with the onset of cold weather, glass can even crack and form a crack from edge to edge. It is no longer possible to drive with such a “windshield”.

A crack may appear due to uneven heating of the cabin. In cold weather, body metal and triplex glass dissipate heat in different ways. So that the old glass does not break, it is therefore necessary to heat it evenly.

To do this, with a cold engine, it is necessary to turn on strong glass blowing in order to distribute the heat evenly over the entire surface and even between the layers of plywood. As the engine warms up, so does the heater, and with it the airflow.

But it is best to install a new windshield before the winter season to replace the damaged one. Whole glass can withstand all temperature loads without the risk of cracking.
