The most unreliable cars that dealers bring to Russia Consumer Reports magazine has compiled an anti-rating of the most unreliable cars

The American non-profit magazine Consumer Reports (CR) made anti-rating of the most unreliable cars, the owners of which had to contact a service center shortly after purchase.

Most of the problem models in this list are sold by car services in Russia,

“socialbites.ca” found relevant postings in the classifieds.

The list of the least reliable models, the purchase of which is better to avoid, includes 11 cars. In its least problematic situation, this anti-degree is opened by the Jeep Wrangler SUV, whose owners complain about difficulties in the operation of the electrical and fuel system, air conditioning, engine, and are also dissatisfied with the quality of paintwork. and coating, poor sound insulation and leaks of working fluids. In Russia, dealers offer to buy new Jeep Wrangler at a price of 6.2 million rubles.

The Mercedes-Benz GLE crossover also raises doubts about reliability among experts due to problems with on-board electronics, optional equipment, air conditioning and other components.

The cost of GLE imported from Europe in the Russian Federation starts from 9.5 million rubles.

Another anti-rating Jeep model is the Gladiator off-road pickup truck. The list of critical areas includes customer complaints about leaks in steering and suspension, propulsion, electrical, Gladiator noise and rain. One of the Moscow dealers offers Jeep Gladiator for 8.4 million rubles.

CR experts say that the big GMC Sierra 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup trucks share not only a platform and many nodes, but also four disadvantages: an unreliable engine, problematic electricity, bad brakes and an all-wheel drive system.

The cost of these pickups is 6.9 million rubles. (Chevrolet) and 7.7 million rubles. (GMC) is ready to place orders to bring sellers from Nizhny Novgorod and Vladivostok.

Another loser of the work is the large crossover Ford Explorer (from 6.9 million rubles in Russia). CR experts upset consumers that the gearbox, body, optional equipment, steering, suspension, on-board electronics, Explorer soundproofing materials and working fluids leaked into the list of defective parts of this machine.

You should also not look closely at the Lincoln Aviator crossover, there are malfunctions in the on-board electronics, climate system and all-wheel drive transmission, problems with steering, suspension, body functional elements and more.

The turnkey price of Aviator luxury crossovers from other countries starts from 6.75 million rubles, dealers in Moscow, Novosibirsk and Vladivostok are ready to take up this business.

Also in the list of foreigners, the CR included a pickup truck Ford F-150 with a hybrid power plant, a compact sedan Nissan Sentra and two electric cars – Chevrolet Bolt and Hyundai Kona Electric.

reliable machines

On the list of the most reliable new cars, Consumer Reports analysts included:

Lexus GX (from 6.4 million rubles in Russia), Mini Cooper (from 3.6 million rubles), Toyota Corolla (from 2.2 million rubles) and BMW 3 Series (from 3.8 million rubles) ) .

Ads posted ads for the sale of such cars with a mileage of up to 100 km. Other models with the lowest risk of malfunction on the list are Toyota Corolla Hybrid, Toyota Prius, Mazda MX-5 Miata, Lincoln Corsair, Subaru Crosstrek and Toyota Prius Prime.

Various Market

Independent automotive industry consultant Sergey Burgazliev explains the growing popularity of parallel imports by the fact that many Western companies working in Russia offer products that the market really needs, but are profitable for them.

“Given the absence of official deliveries (except for China), dealers carry cars for which there is real demand: large SUVs, pickups, all-terrain wagons, seven-seater cars. We will see a completely different demand for models that are not in demand in the Russian Federation.

“The market is becoming more diverse, and that’s partly a reason to consider how many foreign brands have worked before,” he said.

With cars imported from the North American, Canadian and European markets, Russian drivers should have no problems using them. However, with machines from Southeast Asia and the Middle East, difficulties may arise in some areas.

“These are climate systems, other springs, shock absorbers and silent blocks, a fuel system adapted to certain degrees, and tuning features of some electronic systems,” the auto expert listed.

Problems with spare parts for such cars are solved using non-original parts, which, despite their increased cost, are not difficult to find. For some cars imported from abroad, dealers offer a warranty that adds an impressive amount to the cost of the car, Yang Heitzeer, vice president of the National Automobile Association (NAU).

There is no complete confidence that the seller will fulfill all warranty obligations for a car that is rare in the Russian market.

For this reason, Haytseher warned that caution should be exercised when purchasing such a machine and that the provisions of the warranty contract should be discussed with a lawyer.

“Cars from the Emirates may have a different VIN, which cannot be read by a Russian dealer. Another difficulty is that dealers’ diagnostic equipment cannot be adapted to new cars of the 2021 and 2022 model years,” summarized the expert.

As part of parallel imports, dealers bring to Russia new foreign cars that have not been officially sold on the country’s market before. Which cars in the material of socialbites.ca are better not to order from abroad because of their unreliability, and which can be trusted.
