Version Lada Niva Legend Sport will be equipped with two engines. This is a 90-horsepower 1.6-liter eight-valve engine from Lada Grants and a 122-horsepower 1.8-liter engine.
The body structure requires some changes that the Lada Sport specialists are working on. According to Avtograd news, some fixes may appear on regular versions of the Niva later.
Installing a power of 122 hp is impossible without refining the chassis, and this work has already been done. Such a Niva participated in the Silk Way Rally as a technical support vehicle (see photo below).
Lada Niva Sport with a 1.6-liter engine will be produced in fairly large quantities, while versions with 122-horsepower engines are likely to be assembled to order.
It must be assumed that few people will want to buy a Niva with a 1.8 engine. And it’s not just the expected high cost of the car. This engine, with a larger piston stroke, is sensitive to oil consumption, which Za Rulem, the oldest and most authoritative automotive publication in Russia, has already written about.
In the summer of 2023 it will be possible to purchase a new version of Niva Legend.
