A new player from China has signaled its interest in the Russian automotive market. The company is Xev, a brand that builds compact city cars reminiscent of the design language popular in small urban EVs.

The flagship model, known as Yoyo, is produced using 3D printing methods for certain components, a move that aims to streamline manufacturing and reduce lead times. It is powered by a 20 horsepower electric motor and runs on a compact battery with a capacity of 10.3 kWh. With these specs, the Yoyo is designed to handle typical city driving, with a top speed around 80 km/h and a driving range of roughly 150 kilometers on a full charge, depending on conditions and usage. This makes it a practical option for short urban commutes and daily errands within metropolitan areas.

According to the Vehicle Type Approval authority, the Xev Yoyo will come equipped with essential comfort and safety features, including an anti-lock braking system, air conditioning, electric windows, and a sunroof. These are features that resonate with many buyers, particularly in markets that expect convenience and a touch of premium comfort in compact electric vehicles.

The Yoyo is designed to accommodate two occupants—one driver and a single passenger—with a compact footprint. Its overall length is about 2495 mm, width around 1500 mm, and height near 1555 mm. The wheelbase has been extended to about 1680 mm to maximize interior space while maintaining a small exterior envelope. This balance helps ensure a usable boot volume of around 180 liters, providing enough luggage space for short trips or city errands without compromising passenger comfort.

In Russia, potential buyers and partners can source the Xev Yoyo through Quattro Motors Rus, a distributor known for handling a range of urban mobility products, including Peugeot scooters. This distribution arrangement suggests a practical route for market entry, servicing, and aftersales support as the brand explores opportunities in the region.
