The Moscow Traffic Organization Center, also known as the Moscow Traffic Management Center, advised residents to prepare for colder weather by fitting winter tires on their vehicles over the coming weekend. This guidance was shared through the Telegram channel of the Moscow Ministry of Transport, emphasizing proactive measures as temperatures may drop.
The city’s traffic police department has begun seasonal tire changes on vehicles, coordinating closely with the Situation Center around the clock to ensure drivers receive timely support. This update came from Maxim Liksutov, the Deputy Mayor of Moscow and head of the Moscow Transport Department, who urged drivers to plan ahead for winter driving conditions.
Motorists were asked to ensure their cars are winter-ready in advance. Those who cannot schedule a tire change were encouraged to utilize public transit to minimize the risk of accidents. Drivers in Moscow were also advised to exercise heightened caution while behind the wheel, maintaining safe following distances and adhering to posted speed limits.
Additional guidance indicated that drivers should avoid driving with summer tires on Fridays and Saturdays when weather conditions may deteriorate, reducing traction and increasing the chance of mishaps.
In related remarks, Sergei Melikov, formerly the president of Dagestan, criticized the handling of security measures affecting driving operations and those responsible for overseeing road safety. Source: Moscow Ministry of Transport
