The threat of fuel in icy conditions is real. Diesel fuel that sits in a tank during cold months can grow cloudy and even thicken when exposed to chilly air. At around minus 15°C, summer-grade diesel may begin to behave oddly, while at minus 25°C it can shift from a liquid to a solid state. When the fuel line freezes, no additive or cleaner will instantly fix the problem. The vehicle simply needs to be warmed up enough to restore flow and starting power.

Getting the engine running again depends on where the frost has struck. With urban driving, a tow service can transport the car to a heated facility where warm conditions help the fuel regain its proper viscosity and the engine can be started safely.

On long suburban routes, the approach changes. A specialized team equipped with heat guns and a heated canopy is often deployed in cold regions. While this option may be pricier and take longer than a quick fix, it continues to be a practical solution for vehicles stranded on the roadside, preventing further damage from attempting to run the engine in subzero temperatures.

Vote – win Lada!

Participants are invited to take part in the Behind the Wheel Grand Prix poll to help determine the most exciting car models of the year. The process is designed to engage car enthusiasts and provide a glimpse into what drivers in colder climates value in new releases.

As a thank you for sharing opinions, three car accessories will be raffled among all survey respondents. Entry remains open to everyone who completes the questionnaire, with a final participation window set well into the year. The chance to win is open to all eligible respondents who finish the survey before the end date.
