Under AVTOVAZ’s Jurisdiction

Official Renault dealer centers in Russia—there are currently about 154—continue operating. A tripartite agreement between Renault SAS of France, Renault Russia, and PJSC AVTOVAZ grants AVTOVAZ exclusive rights to after-sales and warranty service for Renault vehicles in Russia, along with the sale of original Renault spare parts. The subsidiary Lada-Image, which previously handled only parts, now also supplies Renault components.

The spare parts shortage that appeared in the spring of 2022 has been resolved. Large inventories hold original components and parts for Renault models alongside those used by Lada. Deliveries are now established not only for the most popular items but also for hard-to-find ones. In some cases, it may take up to a month from order to delivery, a situation that has occurred before.

Similarly, Nissan assets in Russia have transitioned to state ownership under FSUE NAMI, which now holds a controlling stake in AVTOVAZ. Spare parts for 117 official dealer centers are supplied by Lada Image, including stocks for the halted Saint Petersburg plant.

What about warranty repairs and insurance?

Regarding service, law does not permit denying warranty service at an official Renault dealership. The same applies to insurance repairs, even if spare parts are scarce. The responsibility to obtain or secure parts rests with the dealer, not the consumer. Warranty repairs are funded by Renault through AvtoVAZ, while insurance repairs are paid by the consumer’s insurer as before.

For vehicles out of warranty, customers may choose to visit an unofficial service center. These centers continue to operate as before, though prices have risen—mirroring broader market trends.

Official dealers retain all Renault diagnostics and repair equipment; nothing has been removed.

Have prices risen? By how much?

All spare parts have seen price increases, though not by the dramatic margins some skeptics predict. Increases range roughly from 15 to 65 percent compared with pre-crisis levels. The sharpest rise is seen in high-demand items like motor oils and brake pads.

This article lists current prices for popular models and key spare parts. If the purchase was made before the crisis, readers can compare against present prices.

The original parts versus non-original equivalents

Legal entities, with the exception of Lada-Image, do not have official authority to import original Renault spare parts into Russia. This has spurred the growth of parallel import channels and new supply chains, making non-original Renault parts widely available in Russia, often with more choice than before February 2022. Prices, however, have also risen. In many cases, non-original parts are cheaper than originals, and good alternatives can be found.

Non-original parts include those branded as Behind the Wheel, such as filters, pads, and more.

What about pricing for the most popular parts?

Current prices for the most sought-after parts for Renaults commonly in use are provided.

Consumables for Renault Logan

The most requested parts for the Stepway remain priced close to their levels before Renault exited the Russian market. Exact prices depend on the dealer.

Expert perspective

Maxim Kadakov, editor-in-chief of the magazine Behind the Wheel, comments: AvtoVAZ now holds Renault stock in Russia, including a substantial reserve of spare parts. There is also a large stock of components from the former Moskvich plant intended for Renault use, which is now allocated to spare parts.

The focus included critical items such as gearboxes, including hydromechanical units and CVTs, which typically do not remain in large stock. Dealers report replacing up to ten gearboxes weekly without issue, covering hydraulic transmissions, variators, and even engines. With the vast stock depleting, deliveries will continue, including parts for problematic items.

Summary: Renault vehicles can be repaired, and spare parts are available.

***

Renault vehicles are unlikely to run out of spare parts. The situation with Nissan platform models mirrors this. If original parts are unavailable, trained consultants help locate reliable analogues. Domestic oils are being produced on the same equipment and with comparable components as imported ones, avoiding any concern about quality.

Other foreign brands that operated in Russia until February 2022 have their own histories. For instance, Toyota maintains after-sales service through its network and sells new vehicles. Toyota and Lexus are imported rather than manufactured in Russia, and while some regional markets have shifted, continued supply channels remain.
