Voyah Free: A Premium Electric Crossover from the DongFeng Family

Voyah stands as a premium sub-brand within the DongFeng Motor Corporation family, a state-backed automaker from China. In Russia, the brand is represented by the local importer Motorinvest. Currently, pre-orders have begun for the first Voyah model, the all‑electric crossover named Free.

The Voyah Free EV features dual motors powering both the front and rear axles, delivering a combined peak output of 488 horsepower. It accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 200 km/h. On a single charge, the vehicle is designed to offer a range around 500 kilometers, depending on driving conditions and usage.

Charging performance varies with charger type, ambient temperature, battery health, and other external factors. With a 120 kW direct current charger through the CCS connector, charging from 20% to 80% takes about 30 minutes. Using alternating current via the Type-2 connector at 11 kW can require around 9.5 hours for a full or substantial top‑up, depending on the starting state of charge.

The Voyah Free employs a recuperation system that captures energy during coasting and braking, converting it back into stored electrical energy to extend range. The system offers three operating modes to suit different driving styles and conditions.

Design-wise, the Voyah Free reflects the work of the international Voyah Design Team. Its aesthetic draws inspiration from the smooth lines of sea waves, evoking the elegance of luxury yachts. The brand’s emblem, a stylized soaring bird, sits prominently on the grille area and rear. A distinctive feature is the roofline that sweeps gracefully toward the rear, with a characteristic LED taillight strip and dynamic turn indicators along the tail.

The vehicle sits on 20-inch turbine-inspired alloy wheels that contribute to a bold, modern silhouette.

Inside, the cabin centers on a floating multimedia display, complemented by a 30 mm lifting mechanism. When the car powers up, the screen rises to reveal a trio of 12.3-inch information displays across the dashboard, providing essential data and controls. The steering wheel is wrapped in genuine leather, adding a touch of luxury to the driving experience.

Reservations for the Voyah Free are open in several Russian cities, including Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Krasnodar, Simferopol, Rostov-on-Don, Sochi, and Izhevsk. Official pricing for this model had not been disclosed at the time of the initial announcement, with expectations for a later reveal around the end of 2022. Since then, updates in pricing and availability may have been issued by the importer and local distributors. Source attribution: Motorinvest and related regional distributors
