A Ford Mondeo driver was detained by traffic police inspectors in Vologda after a pursuit that ended with the motorist attempting to disappear in nearby gardens and then taking shelter behind the wheel. The incident was reported by Vologda.rf.

Witnesses describe how the driver drew the attention of officers through erratic driving on the roadway. When officers signaled for him to pull over, he swung into a parking lot and sped into a courtyard. One of the officers went after him and located a man born in 1996 hiding beneath a trailer in a garden area.

The driver was brought to the patrol vehicle and was requested to submit to a breath or sobriety test, which the young man refused. A protocol was prepared under part 1 of Article 12.26 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation. Refusing a medical examination can lead to a loss of driving rights for one to one and a half years and a fine of 30,000 rubles.

Earlier reports noted an incident in Sochi where a driver struck a girl at a pedestrian crossing and then fled the scene.
