Volkswagen is increasing its use of recycled materials to support environmental goals. The interior of the ID. Buzz already features notable sustainability, and the plan is to extend these practices to more models in the lineup.

The upholstery fabric contains a portion of recovered litter, and the seat filling uses coffee bean husks. The flooring and headliner include recycled polyester components. Each ID. Buzz interior also benefits from plastic sourced from recycled bottles, with the equivalent of 63 half liter bottles used per vehicle according to the manufacturer.

In addition to these materials, Volkswagen intends to remove chrome from both the exterior and interior. A new eco friendly paint system based on bio derived raw materials will replace traditional chrome finishes where appropriate.

The company is preparing to introduce artificial leather made from coffee production waste in the future. This material will be tested on seats and armrests in prototype vehicles before wider implementation.
