In 11 Months, Vladivostok Customs Routed Over 170,000 Cars for Personal Use

Across nearly a full year, the Vladivostok customs authorities issued more than 170,000 lightly used vehicles for personal use, a rise of roughly 66 percent compared with the same period last year, according to the official press release. The surge reflects ongoing demand and a dynamic market influenced by currency movements and policy shifts.

November accounted for the largest share of imports, with figures surpassing 28,000 units in that single month. The pattern suggests a sustained wave of buyers taking advantage of favorable or transitional conditions in the domestic auto market as the year progressed.

Currency trends also played a key role. During June, the ruble traded around 60 per US dollar, a level that later shifted to approximately 66.35 rubles per dollar. As the border procedures tightened and the situation around the fortress policy evolved, a rush to bring vehicles through Vladivostok intensified. Industry observers note that this momentum remains strong, driven not only by Japanese brands but also by a notable influx of Korean models. The overall effect is a robust flow of imported cars entering the market through this gateway, contributing to a complex pricing and supply landscape for 2023 and beyond.

Vote – Win Lada!

Readers are invited to participate in the Behind the Wheel Grand Prix vote to help determine the standout car introductions of the year. The process is simple, and every vote adds a voice to the ranking of notable new models that have hit the market over the last twelve months.

As a token of appreciation for time spent, three ferrets will be raffled among survey participants. The promotion remains open to everyone who completes the questionnaire before the stated deadline, with the opportunity available through late February. The organizers intend to announce results following the close of voting, providing a transparent snapshot of public opinion on the latest automotive novelties.
