The Uzbekistan-based automobile manufacturer UzAvto Motors, previously known as GM Uzbekistan in Asaka, has announced via its Telegram channel that vehicles are being delivered to Russia through private buyers under the parallel import framework.

Earlier coverage indicated that Chevrolet-branded models produced in Uzbekistan appeared in car dealerships and online across several Russian cities. Reports at the time claimed that supply flows had restarted, widening the availability of these vehicles in the Russian market.

UzAuto Motors has stressed that it halted shipments to Russia and that the official distributor, Keles Rus, has paused operations. The company rejects claims of covert exports, clarifying that the shipments in question are not sanctioned exports but private deliveries conducted under the Russian parallel import regime, which Russia permits under the current geopolitical and economic context. This route does not require a Vehicle Type Approval, a procedure some Russian entrepreneurs have relied on, according to the statement.

UzAvto notes that there were isolated instances of a single party purchasing a large number of vehicles. Nevertheless, both UzAuto Motors and all Chevrolet production facilities state that their activities align with Uzbekistan’s laws and with contractual arrangements with General Motors. The emphasis remains on legitimate operations within the national framework, and the company underscores its commitment to compliance, quality control, and transparency in its manufacturing and distribution processes.
