Less outside than inside
Viewed from afar, the Exeed LX tends to look smaller than its real footprint. It resembles a classmate of the Hyundai Creta, yet its actual size sits in the league of a Volkswagen Tiguan.
The cockpit sits high up front. Does that help or hinder? It becomes clearer only after a few days of use. Notably, even at the lowest seat position, the driver can still glance into the salon mirror from above, which can feel odd. For someone heighted at 186 cm, taller drivers may find the seating position a touch cramped.
The second row offers a respectable amount of space. A heated seat and a panoramic roof brighten journeys. A single central deflector means the airflow cannot be split evenly between two passengers, which may disappoint some rear riders.
The trunk is compact. Nestled between the floor and a substantial foam plastic organizer, a thick insert can be pulled out to boost cargo space or used for small items, which are plentiful on family trips.
Who does it resemble?
The LED headlight caps echo a tuning vibe, yet everything else comes together in a cohesive, attractive package.
Known traits? The LX is a heavily redesigned Chery Tiggo 7, which has moved on with the Pro variant. Both share a common platform. The front and rear styling have been refreshed, but the profile still reads similarly, particularly in the glazing line from the side.
All-wheel drive LX is only available in a higher-end hybrid version. The version available here is front-wheel drive, and the rear suspension in this Chinese-made model remains multi-link. With a claimed ground clearance of 185 mm, measurements often exceed 190 mm when checked with a tape, and it sits below the engine protection. This makes it robust for mono-drive crossovers.
The electric lift for the fifth door is non-contact, sensing the nearby key fob. Depending on configuration, wheels can be 18 or 19 inches in diameter.
Turbo, but not with a robot
New Chinese models have largely moved to turbocharged engines, and the Exeed LX follows that trend with a 1.5-liter engine producing 147 horsepower. The Chery Tiggo 7 Pro equipped with this motor offers strong performance, and attention turns to how the premium LX variant handles it.
When it comes to transmissions, the LX uses a nine-speed quasi-variator. A CVT, similar to what’s found in the Tiggo, forms a smooth partnership with the engine.
Rich already in the “base”
Exeed positions itself as a premium brand. The LX, while the entry model for the line, comes well equipped relative to other Chery models. Expect plenty of artificial leather and soft plastics, while the center console and tunnel area feature a substantial black lacquer finish. It looks premium, though such glossy surfaces may show wear and scratches over time.
The basic luxury equipment is generous: heating, an electric tailgate, a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and media screens, LED lighting, and more. The Prestige variant adds a panoramic roof, a range of active safety features (though adaptive cruise control is not included), and additional surround cameras.
The instrument panel follows a design reminiscent of the older Iksid VX, delivering three large LCD screens that feel upscale for its class.
Only in the top configuration are six airbags offered for this level of vehicle; the simpler trim provides four. That discrepancy is notable for a premium-badged product. Another curious point is that the front seats offer heating in the seat cushion but not the backrest, a detail shared with the more expensive Exeed VX crossover.
Buy optional
Exeed LX is priced around 3–3.3 million rubles in the current Russian market. That reflects a shift in values where a well-equipped Tiguan with AWD once cost more, and now a mono-drive “Chinese” fills a similar slot. Dealers already have stock in showrooms.
Available exterior colors are limited to white, gray, blue, and silver, while interiors are offered in black. To avoid heavy upfront costs or steep loans, a subscription model is offered for the crossover. No large down payments or surprises at signing. The monthly rate covers full insurance, routine maintenance, a second set of tires, storage, and roadside assistance. Subscriptions run from six months to three years, with monthly costs ranging roughly from 74.6 thousand to 106.7 thousand rubles depending on duration and mileage.
Is it expensive? For some, this approach can be pragmatic, offering flexibility in today’s market. Alternative ownership can be more convenient and cost-effective in certain scenarios.
- If protecting the radiator is a priority, a DIY protective mesh or a radiator guard can be installed.
