The 2022 results were summarized in a discussion with Ulyanovsk journalists by Adil Shirinov, who serves as the head of UAZ, chairs the board of directors, and is a shareholder in Sollers PJSC. He addressed the status of component supply and explained which parts UAZ will source if sanctions tighten. Shirinov stressed that the priority should be to rely as much as possible on Russian suppliers.

“Right now, there are no European suppliers in the mix. Some items have shifted to providers in China and Turkey. Yet the core emphasis remains on domestic producers. For suppliers with prior experience who previously collaborated with us but relocated to the European or Asian market due to changing conditions, we are starting anew with partners here at home. This approach covers essential systems such as heating, which require development and will be a focus in January and February,” Shirinov stated.

The UAZ leader also addressed the challenges concerning the sales trajectory of Ulyanovsk automobiles in 2022, noting that both sales and production figures for UAZ vehicles surpassed 35,000 units, with an anticipated decline from 2021 not exceeding about 15 percent. It is worth noting that Avtostat reported UAZ sold 9,446 units in 2022, a decrease of 43 percent compared with the previous year.
