UAZ Patriot and Pickup: Transmission Challenges and Current Availability

Orders for the Patriot and Pickup variants equipped with automatic transmission were reportedly paused for a time. The most plausible reason appears to be EU sanctions that barred the supply of French Punch Powerglide 6L50 gearboxes to the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant. In response, UAZ and other sectors have begun exploring alternative components. Officials indicate that five-speed transmissions from BAIC in China have already been fitted to some models, with the expectation that a domestic replacement for automatic units will be identified and adopted in due course.

Dealers still hold a limited number of automatic Patriots and Pickups in stock, but overall supplies are tightening. The official site continues to list automatic versions, showing the Patriot in trims such as Comfort Automatic, Luxe Automatic, and Luxe Premium Automatic, with prices ranging from 1,935,000 to 2,140,000 rubles. The Pickup is listed in Comfort Automatic and Lux Premium configurations, priced between 2,025,000 and 2,240,000 rubles.
