Truck crash injures cyclists and others near Ogonki, multiple casualties reported

Nine people were injured, eight of them children, and two of the children later died from their injuries. Preliminary information indicates that the crash occurred after the truck driver lost control of the steering at the moment of impact.

To coordinate the response, the scene was visited by officials including the Leningrad District Prosecutor Sergei Zhukovsky and the Vyborg City Prosecutor Leonid Seliverstov. They oversaw the actions of all responding services in the aftermath of the collision.

The Leningrad regional administration stated that assistance would be provided to the victims and that hospitalization would be arranged if necessary. Ambulance crews from multiple units, including the Vyborg substation, the Sertolovskaya substation of the Toksovo substation, and a helicopter, were dispatched to the site. Additional ambulances were sent from Saint Petersburg to assist on the scene.

In a separate incident near the Chelyabinsk timber carrier facility in July, a vehicle carrying athletes collided with another car. Six people were injured in that crash, including members and coaches of a cycling team from the Sverdlovsk region, all of whom were transported to the nearest hospital for treatment.

Earlier reporting noted that in Arkhangelsk, at an intersection where a pedestrian momentarily stood, two cars crashed into the curb, prompting emergency involvement. (Mash on Moika)
