In a report from the regional broadcast, the head of a key regional emergency agency outlined the latest developments on the M-4 Don highway. The channel confirmed that traffic had begun moving again in both directions, with vehicles now flowing toward Moscow and toward Rostov. The resumption followed a period of stoppage caused by winter conditions that hindered travel earlier in the day.

Officials noted that traffic volume was high, with more than a thousand vehicles moving once the corridor reopened. The momentary closure had created a congestion scenario along the route, but the situation began to ease as lanes were cleared and safety controls were put in place to manage the flow of cars in both directions.

The emergency leadership emphasized improvements in the scene around the incident area. The overall congestion level dropped significantly, shrinking from about 60 kilometers of tailbacks to roughly 30 kilometers. As conditions improved, fewer people remained in temporary shelters, with the number down from 176 to 134, and a similar trend observed among families with children, with around 30 children still receiving temporary accommodation assistance.

During the disruption, about 766 passengers remained on 33 buses that were briefly trapped in the traffic grid due to heavy snowfall. Rescue and support teams coordinated to ensure the well-being of those on board while the roadway was cleared. Supplies were organized for the stranded travelers, with food delivered into the affected area using snowmobiles, and fuel transported to maintain power and warmth where needed. In addition, eight stationary heating and feeding points were established, along with seven temporary shelters to provide shelter, warmth, and rest for those awaiting onward travel or rescue operations.

Earlier reports indicated that 51 people had been evacuated from the snow blockage on the Don highway, with authorities continuing to facilitate safe movement for others still in the area. The ongoing response included careful traffic management, ongoing assessment of weather-related risks, and the deployment of resources to safeguard passengers and residents nearby. The situation remained under close supervision by regional emergency services, with updates expected as conditions change and transportation routes stabilize along the corridor.
