In the Rostov region, law enforcement officers detained a vehicle after a dangerous pursuit that began with a traffic violation. During the chase, a traffic police inspector lost his life in a collision, and the Regional Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia provided this information as the official account of the incident.
The vehicle involved managed to break away from the pursuing officers in the city of Morozovsk but was later located in the village of Tatsinsky. The suspect was identified as a 39-year-old local resident. Authorities drew up administrative protocols against the offender, citing four articles of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation, including driving without OSAGO and failing to comply with road signs and traffic signals.
The incident occurred on February 5. Investigators observed a foreign-registered car traveling in the wrong direction on a one-way street and signaled for it to stop. The driver attempted to flee, triggering a pursuit that carried on through city streets. On Lenin Street, the police vehicle collided with a KamAZ truck, was shoved to the roadside, and struck a power line pole. The collision resulted in the death of a 32-year-old police lieutenant, while his 33-year-old partner sustained injuries and received medical care. The driver of the foreign car managed to escape after the crash.
Earlier reports mentioned another incident in which a Toyota driver released fireworks at law enforcement officers during a chase in Voronezh, highlighting a pattern of dangerous behavior during traffic pursuits that can endanger officers and the public alike.
