In the Sverdlovsk region, a police operation unfolded when traffic officers had to use a firearm to stop a taxi driver who did not comply with a stop order. The incident was captured on video released by local traffic police, illustrating the sequence of events during the high-speed pursuit.

The pursuit began on the Krasnoslobodskoye – Lipchinskoye highway at the 6th kilometer, after the Renault Logan driver failed to pull over when signaled by the patrol. Rather than yielding, the driver entered the oncoming lane, creating a dangerous situation for approaching vehicles. Faced with the risk to public safety, the traffic inspectors decided to fire a warning shot into the air in order to compel the vehicle to stop. The distraction and threat of the shot succeeded, and the driver brought the car to a halt.

Inside the Renault Logan, two other occupants joined the driver in the unlawful journey. The four people in the vehicle, including a woman and a man, were all examined and found to be showing signs of intoxication. Preliminary checks revealed that the driver had consumed alcohol prior to driving and carried a prior conviction for drunken driving. The man traveling with him explained that he had rented the taxi at a stand and was working for Yandex Taxi. On the day of the incident, he and a friend had been drinking, and the group continued their reckless outing beyond normal hours.

Authorities initiated legal proceedings to hold the taxi driver responsible for repeated intoxicated driving. The Renault Logan was subsequently towed to a private compound as part of the investigation. In addition, traffic police prepared to forward information about the driver’s actions to Yandex Taxi to address the situation within the service platform.

Earlier reports highlighted a separate incident involving a vehicle owner who was fined for placing a personal parking sign on a Maybach. The case underscored ongoing concerns about parking rules enforcement and the use of private vehicles for commercial purposes in public spaces.

Officials emphasized that safety comes first. Instances where drivers refuse to comply with traffic police orders or operate vehicles while intoxicated are treated with seriousness. The ongoing investigation seeks to determine all contributing factors and to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to prevent a recurrence of similar hazards on the roads. Community watchers are encouraged to remain vigilant and report dangerous driving promptly to authorities, who will review each case with due diligence and transparency.
