Toyota showcased a compact crossover in Indonesia called the Yaris Cross, a model whose silhouette echoes the larger Highlander yet remains distinctly tuned for city use. This post offers a clear glimpse into the local variant as presented by Car bucket, noting important distinctions from European versions.
The Indonesian Yaris Cross is built on Toyota’s DNGA platform, distinguishing it from its European counterpart. Its overall length measures 4310 mm with a wheelbase of 2620 mm. Inside, the cabin accommodates five passengers, and in the hybrid configuration the traction battery sits beneath the rear seat. The combined output of the hybrid powertrain—including a 1.5-liter engine, a continuously variable transmission, and an electric motor—reaches 110 horsepower, delivering a smooth blend of efficiency and performance for urban driving.
In addition to the hybrid setup, the Yaris Cross is available with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine producing 105 horsepower. Customers can opt for a manual transmission or CVT, depending on market preference. Both variants place the driver ahead in the cockpit, with a 7-inch instrument display and a 10.1-inch touchscreen for the multimedia system providing essential reminders, navigation, and entertainment features in a user-friendly interface.
Earlier reports mentioned the model’s presence at an established Toyota facility in Saint Petersburg, where plans were discussed to launch an electric microcar in the L-series segment. This context underscores Toyota’s broader regional strategy to expand electrified options and compact crossovers across key markets.
