Toyota has unveiled a new variant of the Land Cruiser 250 SUV designed to assist drivers with mobility challenges. The model is set to debut at the Japan Mobility Expo, which opens on October 26, according to the maker.

This version eliminates traditional pedals, transferring gas and brake functions to the steering wheel through a dedicated control system. Drawing inspiration from motorcycle handlebar setups, Toyota calls this configuration NEO Steer. Inside the cabin, the layout mirrors the standard Land Cruiser 250, featuring a digital instrument cluster, a multimedia display, and a central tunnel that houses the transmission lever.

Earlier this season, the Land Cruiser 250 in this new form was introduced. The frame-based SUV now features a hybrid powertrain that combines a 2.4-liter inline-four turbo engine delivering 330 horsepower with an electric motor and an eight-speed automatic transmission.

At the expo, Toyota is also presenting an electric Land Cruiser concept alongside a pickup, a lunar rover, an electric bicycle, and an electric wheelchair. These unveilings highlight Toyota’s broader push toward electrification and increased accessibility across its product lineup.

In related news, Chery has clarified developments in its own lineup for the Russian market, underscoring ongoing regional product updates among major automakers.
