A study published by the British driving school led by Bill Plant offered a rough estimate of the price tag on a set of legendary garages that house some of the world’s most valuable collections.
The Sultan of Brunei, Hassanal Bolkiah, stands as the owner of what is widely regarded as the most expensive car collection. The exact size of his fleet remains a mystery, but rumors place it between 4,000 and 6,500 vehicles. The assortment is dominated by ultra-luxury and performance machines, including hypercars, coupes, sedans, and limousines. One standout is the Rolls-Royce Silver Spur, famously encrusted with 24-carat gold and valued at roughly 3 million euros.
Other notable inclusions feature Lamborghinis, a multicolored McLaren F1, an armored Mercedes-Benz S-Class, several Ferrari F40s including right-hand-drive variants, and a rare FX model. The Sultan also commissioned the Bentley Dominator SUV in 1996, a prelude to the Bentayga, which drew considerable attention for its bespoke design.
Second on the list is the garage of American fashion icon Ralph Lauren, which showcases around a hundred cars. Among them is the one-off BMW Nazca C2 concept from 1996, a striking reminder of automotive design daring. Lauren’s collection also features a McLaren F1 LM, multiple Ferrari 250 GTOs, a 1931 Alfa Romeo 2300, a distinctive green Bentley Blower 4 Liter, a 1938 Bugatti Type 57 SC Atlantic Coup, and a Mercedes-Benz SSK Count Trossi from the 1930s.
In third place sits the garage of Canadian billionaire Lawrence Stroll, an Aston Martin Formula One team co-owner and a passionate collector of vintage Ferraris. Stroll’s vault is described as a treasure trove, home to exclusive models such as the Ferrari 360 and F430 Challenge, the Enzo, and the LaFerrari hypercar. The collection also includes a 250 GTO acquired a few years back for more than 45 million euros, along with a track-only FXX K that draws attention for its specialization and rarity.
