The SUV is now in its mid-teens, and its history stretches back to 2009 when a limousine built on the UAZ Patriot platform emerged from the plant. In that year, UAZ secured a patent for a car design, signaling an intention to pilot a limited production off-road limousine. While the patent has since expired and was not renewed by the factory, the project remains a notable chapter in the brand’s innovation story.
Today, this singular vehicle has found a home in the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant museum, where visitors can see a rare piece of automotive evolution up close.
According to the plant’s published material, the limousine preserves the rugged character of an SUV while elevating it with touches of refinement and luxury. The publication from Panorama UAZ notes that, despite its sophisticated appearance, the project never moved into mass production for a variety of reasons.
The UAZ limousine stands out from the standard Patriot with a distinctive center insert that houses a third row of seats, facing the rear of the vehicle and oriented opposite the front seating arrangement.
What has this off-road limousine been doing all these years? It appeared at Victory Day parades in Ulyanovsk on May 9, quietly becoming a part of local history. It has also been rented for weddings, and through careful maintenance has remained in good condition. Perhaps those diligent upkeep efforts explain why the car continues to endure today.
