The dedicated bus and special vehicle lanes are clearly marked with signs and directional indicators, making it easy to identify how traffic should move in these lanes. The lane itself is made noticeable through distinctive markings as well.

According to traffic regulations, the vehicles permitted to use these special lanes are defined by article 18.2 SDA. The roster includes city buses, trolleybuses, and all registered route vehicles, including private vehicles that have been authorized to operate in this way. Also allowed are school buses with official registration, light taxis, and fixed-route taxis approved to operate in the capital city on these lanes.

Commercial vehicles may use the dedicated lane only when necessary for cleaning and they must always be equipped with a yellow beacon. Vehicles performing special services must display blue flashing beacons.

At times, access to the special lanes is open to all drivers. When the rules printed on the primary board show working days, the dedicated lane is restricted to those days. On weekends and public holidays, the lane is open to all vehicles without restrictions, provided other rules are respected.

If a sign showing a red eight-pointed cross is visible beneath the main sign, it indicates that the lane is used on weekends and holidays and may restrict access at other times.

There are occasions when information boards on the lane indicate the active hours. For example, a plate may show that the lane is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., while outside these hours, any vehicle may use the lane as long as it does not block a queue for entry into the dedicated lane.

  • Rules for lane use may be updated by local traffic authorities in response to city needs and traffic flow patterns.

In everyday traffic management, the emphasis is on safety, efficiency, and clear guidance for all road users, ensuring that buses and authorized vehicles maintain reliable schedules while other traffic adapts to the available time windows.
