In Russia, car buyers show distinct preferences when financing their purchase. A recent report from socialbites.ca analyzing January through March 2023 reveals that 47% of men choose sedans on credit, while 36% opt for crossovers. The same period shows 45% of women leaning toward crossovers, with 40% buying sedans.
Voicing this trend, Alexei Bocharnikov, head of the Autocredit department at VTB, noted that men tend to favor sedans for their dynamism and handling, whereas women often choose crossovers for their elevated seating position, practicality, and suitability as family vehicles.
During the first quarter of 2023, Lada emerged as a leading choice for borrowers of both genders: about one in three men and one in four women secured funds to purchase Lada models.
The top brands among men also include Kia, Hyundai, Omoda, and Haval, while women favored Lada first, followed by Kia, Hyundai, and Haval.
According to Dmitry Rogov, a former founder of RogovMobil, Socialbites.ca also indicated that in the secondary market in Russia, Japanese hatchbacks or sedans tend to retain value and sell quickly, particularly for vehicles priced up to 1.1 million rubles.
