Beginning January 1, the State Duma will no longer cover gasoline costs for deputies who do not switch to a domestic vehicle or a foreign car approved by the Ministry of Industry and Trade. This summary mirrors what Izvestia relayed through Yana Lantratova, the first deputy chair of the State Duma Education Committee.

“From January 1, the State Duma will not accept documents needed to reimburse motor transport services for cars from other brands. Today I am assigned a Toyota Camry in the Chelyabinsk region, but soon a different vehicle will take its place. The district has not yet announced which one,” Lantratova noted.

Volodin stated that lawmakers should choose to use only domestic vehicles such as Moskvich, Lada, and Aurus as official cars. He underscored that Russia will not cultivate its auto industry if cars from unfriendly countries remain in use and Russians continue to drive non domestic brands.

In a list provided by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, government employees are allowed to use specific cars for official purposes. The list includes the Lada lineup (Vesta, Vesta SW Cross, Granta, Niva Travel, Niva Legend), UAZ models (Patriot, Pickup, Profi, Hunter, SGR), Aurus models, Moskvich offerings (3, 3е, 6), Evolute models (I-Pro, I-Joy, I-Sky), and Haval variants (Jolion, Dargo, F7/F7x, H9).

Earlier reports mentioned that the former Russian Hyundai plant could assemble up to 70,000 cars using remaining spare parts.
